Grease, the Musical! for Stroke Survivors

The Stroke Recovery Association of B.C. presents Grease, the Musical! This creative arts program, run by a Speech-Language Pathologist, is designed specifically for stroke survivors, especially people living with aphasia after stroke. The program will focus on singing and movement, while also providing scripts to practice scenes from the well-known musical, Grease. No prior experience in the creative arts is required and all are welcome. (Verification of stroke and/or Aphasia may be required). The program will run every Saturday from 12 – 2 PM starting January 13 and will culminate in a performance on June 2.

Cedar Weaving Bracelet Workshop

In the Haida and many Northwest Coast cultures, cedar is referred to as the tree of life. Many of our teachings come from the cedar tree; there is a lot to learn from her. Participants will learn our traditional knowledge of cedar, including the historical and spiritual importance of cedar and the steps of harvesting cedar bark. You will learn how to weave cedar bark into a beautiful bracelet that you can take home with you. Great for families! All supplies included.

Aromatic Essences derived from portions of the plants – discover the alternative form of healing! Learn the top ten essential oils, their therapeutic properties and how to safely and effectively use them everyday. Discuss creating your own essential oil medicine cabinet. In class, create blends for lymphatic drainage, scarring, acne and other ailments. In class, make and take home a personal synergy (blend), a roll-on, massage oil, a solid scent perfume, and a perfume spray. Recipes and blends provided. All supplies included in course fees.
