Welcome to Fall 2026.

Hello from the Douglas Park Community Association!

Douglas Park Community Association (“DPCA”) is grateful to operate on the unceded, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh Nations.

DPCA is delighted to welcome Sally Chan as our new Community Recreation Supervisor (“CRS”).

As you may already know, Douglas Park Community Centre is operated jointly by the Vancouver Park Board and DPCA under a joint operating agreement. DPCA’s primary role under the agreement is the development, delivery, and staffing of programming at Douglas Park.

As the CRS, Sally is the management representative of the Park Board at Douglas Park providing official oversight of the facility and supporting DPCA with the delivery of programming and services. DPCA is looking forward to working with Sally and benefiting from her leadership.

Thank you to our programmers for researching and offering, among others, the following new programs for the community this fall: VAFC Grasshoppers Soccer; Mandarin Play Club, Snow-Skin Mochi Mooncake; DataSavvy Kids: Smart Money & Big Decisions; Partner Yoga; Moving with Ease – Balance, Core and Flow; Classical Chinese Dance; and, Laughter Club.

Thank you to all our DPCA volunteers, board members, DPCA and Vancouver Park Board staff, and the Vancouver Park Board.

Watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer fight her toughest enemy – a demon who turns her small town, Sunnydale California, into a full fledged musical!!

Watch Buffy and the gang burst into song and dance, all the while revealing their innermost secrets in this staging of the musical episode of 90s cult classic TV Series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Haven’t seen the show? No problem! This show is for all audiences, fans of Buffy and those who haven’t even heard of it alike!

This show features a live band, as well as a cast of local singers and actors. This show is being staged by Yellow House Theatre Co (@yellowhousetheatreco on Instagram!), a theatre company founded by two UBC graduates (Olivia Richards and Marcus Rahal) with the goal of showcasing emerging creatives!

We can’t wait to see you all in Sunnydale (aka the Douglas Park Community Centre Gym) August 24th and 27th!”

Welcome to Spring/Summer 2026.

Douglas Park Community Association (“DPCA”) is grateful to operate on the unceded, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh Nations.

Vancouver will be hosting 7 FIFA world cup soccer games between June 13th and July 7th. As such, Douglas Park’s June Community Day will not be in its traditional one day form this year but rather celebrations will be spread across the summer through enhanced Performance in the Park concerts by including games and other activities. Mark the following Thursday evenings on your calendar: July 16, 30, August 13 and 20. World cup games will be shown in the lobby. Pop on by and cheer!

DPCA received a great response to our call for community members to join the board resulting in 5 new directors. Thank you, and welcome to our new directors.

The DPCA board would like to acknowledge and thank our Community Recreation Supervisor Jody Gunderson. She has been the heart of the centre for the last 8 years. Sadly, she is now needed at another community centre. They are lucky to have her, we will miss her, and we wish her ongoing success in her career.

Douglas Park Community Association is looking for new Board members!

We’re a small, welcoming community centre with a friendly board and caring, dedicated staff. Our mission is simply to provide affordable and quality facilities and programming to meet the diverse needs of the people of the Douglas Park community and to encourage community use and participation of the Douglas Park Community Centre.

What happens at Douglas Park Community Centre?

We are jointly operated by the Vancouver Park Board and the Douglas Park Community Association, and we provide pre-school and school-aged child care, and a wide variety of programming for teens and youth, pre-school children, adults, seniors, and people of all ages with disabilities. We are also proud to have a pottery studio, a fitness room, and a gymnasium.

What does the Board do?

We provide oversight and strategic direction to keep Douglas Park Community Centre financially sound and running efficiently, ethically, and true to its mission.

Who are we looking for?

While we’d especially love to hear from people with experience in finance, human resources, or early childhood education, we welcome anyone with skills, perspectives, and lived experiences who can help us serve our diverse community. We’re proud of what Douglas Park Community Centre represents and provides to the community, but we want your fresh ideas and unique perspective to help make it even better.

What’s the commitment?

Board members are expected to attend 8-10 evening meetings per year and join (ideally chair) at least one committee. Our standing committees include Finance, Human Resources, Programming, Licensed Childcare and Strategic Plan Advancement.
