Participants will be guided through the process of creating a story whose landscape is populated by creatures and plants sourced from both Coast Salish (place-based) lore and personal imagination. The structure of several traditional folk and fairy tales will be used to inspire themes of resilience, humour, savvy, and community. Workshop time includes a mix of games, exercises, solo, pair, and group work. The only material required is a journal and pen. Participants gain comfort and confidence in telling a unique story, increasing skills as both teller and listener, which results in enhanced memory and public speaking skills. This is an opportunity to celebrate our diverse cultural heritage and our strengths as a community. No previous performance experience necessary.
