Upon completion of the newly redeveloped Douglas Park playground the Douglas Park Community Association will be working towards an additional project that will aim to build a collaborative, educational and food-producing garden in designated planting areas in partnership with local community groups, facilitators and existing community centre user groups of all ages, and other interested community members.
The project will incorporate ecological, cultural and culinary aspects of gardening through the garden development as well as workshops and programming that will examine pollinators, indigenous plants, garden maintenance, harvesting and use of locally grown food.
Douglas Park Community Association sees this project as providing a holistic approach to improving our community’s health and well being through our garden’s development, maintenance, and related programming.
