Globally, communities are uniting to address our current climate emergency. DPCA is committed to engaging with our community in taking action in response to climate change. Some of the initiatives we’ve already taken include reducing printed copies and mailings of program guides and reminder cards; introducing the Harvest Festival event (which was a complete garden to table experience with vegetables from our very own community garden); holding pottery sales, which encourage buying local handmade goods; and increasing classes and workshops that focus on sustainable living and DIY. We look forward to continuing this work and more with Douglas Park community and our fellow community centre associations as we all take steps towards reducing climate change.
Thank you to all of our volunteers, staff, instructors and board members. Your continuous contribution and effort is reflected in the success and happiness of our community centre.
