Children’s Programs

Douglas Park Community Centre offers many Recreation programs for children aged 5-12 years. Children can explore creativity through Art, Music, Crafts, Dance and Drama. They can gain confidence by learning new languages such as Spanish and Japanese. They can learn how to bake and cook or can learn how to read, write, or develop presentation and study skills. Sports programs help children to get and stay fit while learning about teamwork and having fun at the same time. For preteens & Youth we have programs out into the community to participate in a different out-trip and activity each week. And to top it all off, in the Summer, we offer Day Camps including specialty camps in Tennis, Drama and Dance!

Introduction to Art and Design 6-12 yrs NEW
Thomas Girard
How do we create, starting with nothing? This course helps you learn how to do just that. Students will be given a piece of paper to make something. They can make anything they want but that can’t use additional tools – they can’t use pens, pencils, tape, glue – they can only use the piece of paper. When time is up, they are encouraged to talk about what they made. This course is a great way to make friends and build interpersonal skills, as well as build confidence in speaking!
